On Saturday, ahead of Week 5’s matchup with the division-rival Tennessee Titans, the Indianapolis Colts made a move that no one saw coming, as they came to terms with All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor on a three-year contract extension.
During the NFL offseason, Taylor and the Colts were not seeing eye-to-eye on a new contract, which led to the star running back asking the team to trade him.
This resulted in some bad blood between both sides as team owner Jim Irsay was adamant about not trading arguably their best player, nor did he want to sign him to an extension.
Eventually, the team allowed Taylor and his representation to seek a trade and came close to a deal with the Miami Dolphins, but it didn’t come to fruition, making things awkward in Indianapolis.
Fortunately, all the drama can come to an end for the Colts, with Taylor happy and ready to continue his playing career with the team, as his agent made it clear why they were able to get a deal done on Saturday via Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
I asked Jonathan Taylor's agent Malki Kawa how they were able to get the new deal done with the Colts?
"He's the best back in the league."

With Taylor back in the fold, the Colts will have one of the most dynamic running games in the league, as rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has turned into a legitimate dual threat under center and one of the most mobile players at his position.
It’ll be interesting to see how these two young players play together and whether the Colts can make some noise for the rest of the season.
