Jonathan Kumings of the Golden State Warriors wants to control his future, and he will fight hard for it.
Kuminga and the Warriors have been at a standstill over contract negotiations, with both sides digging their heels in about what they want.
The Warriors recently offered him another potential package, but it came with a team option at the end of it, meaning they would dictate if he stayed or entered free agency.
Kuminga is apparently coming around on the idea of staying with the Warriors, but only if they change that team option to a player one.
“Jonathan Kuminga is willing to sign the Warriors offer and “buy-in to mission of getting Steph Curry another title” if they convert the team option into a player option,” Anthony Slater is reporting.

Converting a team option into a player option would give Kuminga more flexibility and choice.
He would be able to dictate if he stays or goes, and could be hunting for a new home in the league if he had plans to depart.
This would be a much friendlier contract for Kuminga, but he’d be willing to work for it.
There have been rumors of him not playing hard or fully committing to the team unless he gets what he wants.
So, if they decided to give him a player option, he would buy in and really put his heart and soul into the team and helping them win another title for Steph Curry.
The Warriors now have to sit with this idea and contemplate whether they wish to make the change.
If they do, the Kuminga saga may finally be over, and they can begin to focus on winning a lot in 2025-26.
