While many are picking the St. Louis Cardinals to run away with the NL Central title, Joey Votto has other plans.
On Instagram, MLB made a post and asked fans to drop some bold predictions for the division for 2023.
This is where the Cincinnati Reds and their star first baseman come in.
Votto responded to the comment by predicting that on April 15, extra-terrestrials will arrive on Earth and that by then, the Reds will be 12-2.
He continued, saying that the Reds and the rest of society will learn from our new alien friends and that when it’s all said and done, the Reds will sweep the playoffs and win their first World Series title since 1990.
MLB Cut4 posted a screenshot of Votto’s comment on Twitter.

You never know what’s going to happen in society.
This is of course a joke, but you can never rule anything out.
While the Reds appear on track for another rocky season, stranger things have happened in baseball.
We saw the Seattle Mariners come out of nowhere in 2021 and finish with 90 wins.
Extra-terrestrials may not have been at play, but it was a surprise.
Clearly, this is Votto’s world and we’re all just living in it.
He closed out his statement by saying that if these extra-terrestrials ask him to come back with them to their planet, he will oblige, never to be seen again.
That part would be sad, because Votto’s sense of humor would be missed.
But you never know what’s going to come next in this world.
At least Votto would go out on top, having won a World Series ring.
