On Saturday, the Houston Texans simply couldn’t hang with the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated them by nine points in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
While the Texans didn’t do too badly overall this season, things are starting to get serious for them, as their fans will no doubt expect serious Super Bowl contention very soon.
A couple more pieces will be needed for them to get to reach that next level, and running back Joe Mixon sounded so confident in executive Nick Caserio that he implied Caserio has something planned in terms of upgrading the roster, per Aaron Wilson.

Houston already made a big splash this past offseason by trading for four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs and also bringing in pass rusher Danielle Hunter, who himself is a four-time Pro Bowler.
But the heavens weren’t very kind to Houston this season, as Diggs and fellow wideout Nico Collins both suffered season-ending injuries.
Nonetheless, Houston seems to have plenty of hope for next season, as Diggs, Collins and Tank Dell make up a fearsome trio of skill players, while third-year cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. made both the Pro Bowl and All-Pro First Team this year and second-year defensive end Will Anderson made strides.
The AFC continues to seem to be the deeper conference, at least on paper, and therefore the Texans will need to be aggressive this offseason and not merely count on better health in order to become legitimate championship contenders next fall and winter.
