It’s been four years since the New York Jets last won a season opener.
That moment occurred when they defeated the Detroit Lions on the road to start their 2018 campaign.
Unfortunately, the losing streak will continue for at least one more season after the Jets lost to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, 24-9.
It would have been a nice revenge game for quarterback Joe Flacco, who went up against the team he helped lead to a Super Bowl victory.
The desired result wasn’t meant to be as the Ravens established a 24-3 lead after three quarters.
Flacco had a good game, completing 37 passes for 307 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
However, it’s a result he did not want, especially since the Jets haven’t had a winning season since 2015.
Being the leader that he is, Flacco issued a wake-up call for the squad.

ESPN NFL Nation reporter Rich Cimini tweeted, “Flacco: ‘We’re going to be better than we were today.’”
Flacco became the Jets’ starting quarterback since Zach Wilson is still unavailable due to injury.
Still, he is making the most of his time behind center by challenging his teammates to step up.
Room For Improvement For The Jets
Aside from giving away 81 total yards on six penalties, the Jets have to execute better on third down.
They converted only two attempts out of 14 tries.
They have also failed to deliver the points despite having more yards on offense than Baltimore.
That kind of performance won’t work against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.
Likewise, head coach Robert Saleh should start feeling the heat if he loses again next week.
Therefore, he must find ways to motivate his squad to push harder and get their first win early in the season.
