The Cincinnati Bengals couldn’t allow Joe Burrow to take the field for Week 1 without a new deal, and he should’ve never even considered padding up if that didn’t happen, either.
That’s why it wasn’t a surprise to see the former No. 1 pick getting the most lucrative deal in NFL history just before the start of the season.
The LSU product signed a massive 5-year deal worth a whopping $275 million, which included $219 million fully guaranteed, far more than the previous all-time high for the Bengals.
With that in mind, a reporter asked Burrow what was going to be his first big purchase with this new contract, and his answer was spot on (via Andrew Siciliano).
Reporter: What’s the first thing you’re going to buy with the new contract?
Joe Burrow: “I haven’t decided yet. All I’ve been thinking about is trying to win on Sunday. Maybe I can just see something online now and buy it.”

Burrow stated that all he cares about right now is to win on Sunday vs. the Cleveland Browns, adding that he might just buy something he likes online, and that’s it.
That’s the kind of answer you would expect from such a big leader and competitor.
Burrow always knew his payday was coming, and he never pushed for that.
Everybody knew he was going to reset the quarterback market once his turn came, which is why he waited until all the other young players got their deals.
But now that he already got that out of the way, he’s only looking forward to competing at the highest level and taking care of business.
The Bengals are in for a tough first game, a divisional matchup vs. the Cleveland Browns.
Burrow has only beaten the Browns once in five games, so money might be the last thing on his mind right now.
