Last season, the Dallas Cowboys were one of the best all-around teams in the NFL, armed with a high-powered offense and a lockdown defense, which resulted in America’s Team securing the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
Unfortunately for Dallas, this year’s squad compared to what the Cowboys had going last year is pale in comparison, as the Cowboys are now sporting a 3-5 record after losing to Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
One of the main reasons for the Cowboys’ struggles this season has been the injuries suffered on the defensive side of the football, but the offense hasn’t been given a pass, as Dallas can’t put up points the way they did in 2023.
Former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson shared his thoughts about the current state of the franchise this season and how he believes it might be too late for this team to make the NFL playoffs, even though he sees this team getting better when their star players get healthy via FOX Sports: NFL.
“I don’t see them making the playoffs this year,” Johnson said.

Johnson might be right because the clock is ticking, and the schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Cowboys moving forward, as they’ll face the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles next week, followed by the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders.
Even though the Cowboys will likely get a boost defensively next week with the potential return of superstar linebacker Micah Parsons, Dallas may have dug a hole too deep to get out of at this point in the season.
