The Miami Heat beat the Memphis Grizzlies by 19 points on Wednesday night.
That was a much better showing than what they had a few nights before, as they were defeated by the Orlando Magic, losing by 12 points despite Jimmy Butler delivering 38 points.
Butler wasn’t happy with his team following that tough, surprising loss.
And he let them know it in a very interesting, one-of-a-kind way.
According to NBA writer Nick Friedell, Butler blasted Nickelback in the team’s locker room following the defeat.
Friedell also reported that Butler “sang every word” from the Canadian rock band.

While they have sold millions of records and have a legion of fans, Nickelback has become something of a punchline for many because of their loud, middle-of-the-road style of rock.
Apparently, Butler saw Nickelback as the ultimate punishment for his team falling short.
This isn’t the first time that the Heat haven’t delivered.
They are the seventh seed in the East right now, sitting with a 38-33 record.
That is a far cry from where they were last year.
They ended the 2021-22 season in first place with 53-29.
It would take a miracle for them to get close to that this year.
Butler was obviously very upset to see his team get trounced by one of the worst in the league even though he produced nearly 40 points.
Time is running out for the Heat to improve their standing.
They will soon face off against the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets over the next week.
After that, they will only have seven more games before the postseason begins.
If the Heat give up any more must-win games, Butler might play Nickelback’s greatest hits on repeat.
