The New York Jets need all hands on deck to salvage their season.
Team owner Woody Johnson went away from his usual M.O. when he fired HC Robert Saleh five games into the season.
Clearly, he’s willing to go the extra mile to make sure the team lives up to its potential.
Notably, that includes pleading to Haason Reddick in an attempt to end his holdout.
As reported by ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Woody Johnson urged the star pass-rusher to hop in his car, enter the team facility, and get a deal sorted out.
“So, Haason, get in your car, drive down I-95 and come to the New York Jets. We can meet you and give you an escort right in the building and you will fit right in and you’re going to love it here, and you’re going to feel welcome and you’re going to accomplish great things with us,” Johnson said.

Reminds me of the time he sent a similar message to Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2016. It worked, but it cost him $12M for 1 year. #Jets https://t.co/KVqB8ody5R

This was the first time that Johnson addressed the situation, and it speaks volumes about his determination to get things right with the Jets this season.
The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to get him.
He didn’t take their offer at the time of the trade and hoped that negotiations would continue, whereas the Jets hoped that he’d show up and play while they negotiated.
Now, the 30-year-old still hasn’t reported to the team and has incurred more than $8 million in fines, yet his stance is still the same.
This doesn’t even seem to be about money anymore, but the fact of the matter is that it will be in everybody’s best interest to get a deal done and get Reddick on the field as soon as possible.
