The New York Jets are the most discussed team in the league right now for obvious reasons.
But even on a day when Aaron Rodgers got most of the attention, GM Joe Douglas still needed to address another situation.
There have been some rumors regarding WR Corey Davis and his future with the team, so Douglas wanted to make it clear that they have no intention whatsoever of moving on from him, at least for the time being.
Then again, Douglas did acknowledge that there’s still a “business aspect of football,” so maybe he was just trying to be politically correct.
.@Connor_J_Hughes bluntly asked #Jets GM Joe Douglas if Corey Davis is going to be on the team in 2023? JD waxed poetic about him as a teammate & a leader but then said ‘we all know there’s a business aspect to football but Corey’s a valued member of this team’ 🧐 🎥 @nyjets pic.twitter.com/GAUwmAQtMQ

Davis is set to make north of $10 million in base salary next season with a $11.16 million cap hit.
He would save the team $10.5 million in cap space if he cut before June 1, so it could be a bit of a no-brainer move, considering they already signed Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman.
Davis has all the physical tools to be an impactful wideout in the league, but he’s hauled in just 1,028 receiving yards and six scores in two seasons with the organization.
Garrett Wilson is obviously slated to be the No. 1 guy in the passing game going forward, and there have been rumors about the Jets eyeing Ohio State star Jaxon Smith-Njigba with their first-round pick this season.
Should that be the case, then Davis would be an even more obvious cut candidate, barring any team being willing to take a chance on the former No. 5 pick by the Tennessee Titans
