Earlier in the NFL offseason, the New York Jets made the bold move to trade for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers by swinging a deal with the Green Bay Packers.
Although the Jets were already a talented football team on both sides of the football, the addition of Rodgers instantly addressed the team’s biggest need of having a battle-tested veteran under center with a winning resume.
There’s been a lot of speculation as to whether this would be one-and-done for the four-time NFL MVP, as kind of a last hurrah or farewell season, with the hope of winning it all one more time before walking away from the game.
Even though that seemed like the case initially, that is no longer what it appears to be in New York, with Rodgers agreeing to a new two-year deal with the team in which he actually takes less guaranteed money, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The #Jets signed four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to a new two-year, $75 million guaranteed contract through the 2024 season, per NFL salary data.

This is an interesting development, to say the least, as it appears Rodgers really likes what is going on in New York and is confident in the team that he has around him even before he takes a snap in the Big Apple.
However, it still remains to be seen whether the Rodgers experiment will work in New York, as there’s a lot of football to be played in the months ahead as he tries to help turn this team into a legitimate title contender in the AFC.
Although Rodgers is committed to two seasons with the Jets, he could still have a different stance at the end of the season if things go poorly or injuries take a toll on the veteran quarterback.
