Whenever there’s a big-name player available at a skill position in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys are almost always linked to the player, and that’s no different when it comes to veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Recently, the Arizona Cardinals attempted and failed to trade the five-time All-Pro, with the team not liking the compensation coming back in any proposed deals.
With the Cardinals unable to trade Hopkins, the team decided to part ways with him by releasing the 30-year-old wideout and making him available to the highest bidder.
During this NFL offseason, the Cowboys addressed the wide receiver position by adding veteran Brandin Cooks to play alongside CeeDee Lamb, giving Dak Prescott another weapon downfield.
As a result of Dallas having a dynamic duo in the receiving corps, it appears the team isn’t interested in Hopkins, as team owner Jerry Jones has made clear.

If Hopkins had been available to sign as a free agent before the Cowboys made the deal for Cooks, there’s a chance things would’ve been different, as it wouldn’t have been all that surprising to see America’s Team go after what would be a massive upgrade to the passing game.
However, that didn’t happen, and the team might be content with its receiving corps moving forward.
The same might not be said for the backfield in Dallas, with there still being a chance they bring back Ezekiel Elliott, but Hopkins being added to the Cowboys roster seems to be a stretch, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills said to be pursuing the veteran pass-catcher.
