The Dallas Cowboys are playoff bound once again this season and have a first-round road matchup against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Despite that, questions are still swirling around regarding head coach Mike McCarthy.
With the Cowboys playoff game coming up, owner Jerry Jones made sure to keep his plans in-house regarding the direction of the franchise.
Will McCarthy return as head coach in 2023?
Could anything happen in Tampa to put Mike McCarthy’s job status in question? Jerry Jones on @1053thefan: “No. I don’t even want to — no. That’s it. I don’t need to go into all the positives or minuses. I’ve got a lot more to evaluate Mike McCarthy on than this playoff game.”

“No. I don’t even want to — no. That’s it. I don’t need to go into all the positives or minuses. I’ve got a lot more to evaluate Mike McCarthy on than this playoff game,” Jones was quoted as saying.
Dallas finished the year with a 12-5 record and simply put, if the Cowboys lose early in the playoffs once again, Jones could decide to move on and bring in somebody else.
Rumors have been flying around for a year regarding former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, and Jones and Payton seem to be a perfect match for one another.
However, Jones is focused on Monday night’s playoff game in Tampa Bay.
McCarthy and the Cowboys came up flat in Week 18 with an ugly 26-6 loss, and that was with starters like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Tony Pollard suiting up.
If the Cowboys lose on Monday night, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Jones decide to move on from McCarthy and pursue yet another head coach.
If the Cowboys win, things might change, but you never know in Dallas.
After all, it is Jerry’s World.
