The hope of Dallas Cowboys fans was running thin, but what little they had left might have been whisked away as soon as quarterback Dak Prescott left the Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out for an extended period of time.
Nobody has been able to get a clear timeline on when Prescott might be ready to return, and owner Jerry Jones recently addressed the QB’s injury status.
“It’s a blurred area. There’s no question the injury is there and the question is, ‘Will it require surgery?’ But that’s all opinions. Of course, the ambiguity here is, first of all, it’s going to take him one way or the other. He’s got to have some weeks off of it before he can see if it really does require surgery and so he doesn’t want surgery. He wants to be on the field and going for it,” Jones said on 105.3 The FAN, via Todd Archer of ESPN.

That still isn’t clear, but Prescott will be out for at least a few games before he and the team make a decision about what’s to come for the rest of the season.
If Dallas loses the next two or three games without him, which is entirely possible given the fact that the those games are against the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders, it’s possible Prescott has played his last snap this season.
Already 3-5, if the Cowboys fall further out of playoff contention, it won’t make a ton of sense to bring him back this year.
