The New England Patriots fired Bill Belichick because they wanted to get back to their winning ways.
Instead, they will win as many or fewer games as they won in his last season with the team.
Jerod Mayo promised they would win more than four games this season, but he won’t be able to keep that promise.
He talked about how his biggest accomplishment was weathering the storm during a tough season.
That’s hard to agree with, as weathering the storm would’ve been winning more games.
Now, when asked about what he was proud of this year, he talked about the way the players responded week in and week out despite all the difficulties.
“The way the guys respond each and every week. It’s been a difficult season, but at the same time they come into work everyday trying to get better… that’s not always easy when you go through a season like this,” he said.

Mayo has left plenty to be desired in his first year in charge of the team.
The players have looked undisciplined and unprepared there.
The decision-making and clock and timeout management have also been subpar, and there were little to no signs of improvement throughout the season.
The fans should still be excited and encouraged about this team’s future because of Drake Maye.
Right out of the gate, he looked like a solid prospect but will not be able to win alone.
Now, they could even end up with the No. 1 pick to keep building their project for the future.
However, whether Mayo will be the guy they need to get back to their winning ways is still up for debate.
