The New England Patriots got demolished on Saturday morning by a score of 40-7 against the Los Angeles Chargers to drop to 3-13 on the year with just one game remaining next weekend against the Buffalo Bills.
The Pats are now in the midst of their second six-game losing streak of the season, and head coach Jerod Mayo had an honest admission about his team after its latest blowout.
In his postgame press conference, Mayo said that there was “really nothing good to take out of that game today” before adding, “The lack of execution…Look, that’s a good football team, they’re a well-coached football team. We just didn’t play well enough in any phase of the game. No complimentary football, and that’s what you get.”

It’s hard to disagree with Mayo’s assessment, as the Pats got railroaded in every facet of the game in their own stadium.
It was a major step back after the team’s spirited performance in a close 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills the previous week.
The Patriots had just 181 total yards to the Chargers’ 428.
They were also doubled up in time of possession, as they could hold onto the ball for just 19 minutes and 26 seconds.
This was largely because they only produced 11 first downs all game.
At this point, the Patriots just need to make sure they don’t hurt their draft positioning to get Drake Maye as much help as possible.
He has been the team’s lone bright spot in 2024, and Pats fans can take solace in knowing that they at least have their quarterback of the future.
