It had been a while since the Los Angeles Lakers last had a home playoff game at a max capacity.
So, the fans made sure to show up and make their presence felt early in Game 3 of their first-round matchup vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.
The fans literally smothered the visitors, leading to one of the greatest first quarters — or quarters, for what it’s worth — in franchise history.
That’s why team Governor Jeanie Buss took to Twitter to thank the fans for their support, urging them to continue showing out for the remainder of the playoffs.
Lakers fans are THE best fans in all sports! You are our secret weapon. No fan base can match your passion. Please keep doing what you do – #GoLakers 💜💛🔥 https://t.co/fM1pUb32dH

The Lakers were a bulldozer right out of the gate, dominating their rivals en route to a 35-9 first quarter.
The Grizzlies struggled to keep up with the Lakers’ physicality, up to the point where Dillon Brooks literally punched LeBron James in frustration.
The Lakers are back in control of their destiny with a 2-1 series lead and homecourt advantage for the remainder of the series, so the fans should have plenty of reasons to be excited about Game 4 on Monday night.
Ironically, fans haven’t been as fond of Buss’ management as of late.
She has drawn plenty of criticism for reaching out to Kurt Rambis and Phil Jackson for advice on how to run the team, with some even urging her to sell the stake in the organization.
Still, they might be thrilled with the way their team is playing right now, so all that criticism will be on pause while the Lakers are still in contention.
