The Boston Celtics are a storied franchise with no less than 18 NBA championships.
After not having won a title since the 2007-2008 season, the Celtics finally brought home #18 this past spring.
That put the 2023-2024 roster among the names of the all-time Boston greats.
One of the team’s current stars, Jayson Tatum, finally got his first ring this year in his seventh season with the club.
In a recent interview with “Celtics on NBA Sports Boston,” Tatum shared who he believes is the best Celtic ever.

“The thing that fuels me is, Larry Bird is the best player to ever wear the Celtics uniform,” said Tatum.
Although Bird put up lofty numbers during his career and won multiple championships, Tatum has already met or surpassed a few of Bird’s team records.
Those include tying Bird’s record of 60 points in one game and becoming the first player in team history to average 30 points per game.
Despite those accolades, Tatum believes Bird is still the standard bearer for his game.
“…sometimes just being in the same conversation with him as far as records and things like that go,” continued Tatum. “And, you know, you should strive to be the best. He’s the best Celtic of all time. Even if I fall short of that, a little bit, you [Tatum] had a hell of a career.”
Of course, Boston has had several players who made their mark in team, and NBA, history including Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, who played alongside Bird.
Arguably the greatest of the bunch was Bill Russell, who won an astounding 11 championships in 13 years.
