The NBA’s All-Star Game has become a bit of a joke over the past few years.
Teams refuse to play defense, players don’t want to be physical, and it seems like we’re always a couple of buckets away from setting all new kinds of records.
In fact, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown recently called the game ‘a glorified layup line,’ while Denver Nuggets coach Mike Malone stated that it was the worst kind of basketball game and that it was unfixable.
While both of them might be true, Jayson Tatum’s performance was still remarkable.
The Celtics forward established a new scoring record for All-Star Games, logging 55 points with ten three-pointers on 71% shooting.
Unsurprisingly, Tatum took home All-Star MVP honors, as he added ten rebounds and six assists and led Team Giannis to a huge win over Team LeBron.

Even for a glorified layup line and a non-competitive game, this was impressive and remarkable.
But then again, the All-Star weekend has become just so…boring.
Thanks to Mac McClung for saving an otherwise snoozefest of a Dunk Contest, and the three-point shooting contest isn’t as exciting as it used to be.
The NBA season is a long grind, and players deserve to rest and get better for the next most crucial stretch of the year; we get that.
But there’s no point in having these games if they’re not even going to try.
This game actually used to mean a lot to the players.
