Don’t look now, but the New York Yankees are back to a positive record (70-69).
They have won their last five and are 6.5 games back in the quest for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League.
Could it be?
Could the Yankees pull off the miracle and sneak into the postseason.
Don’t get your hopes up if you are a fan… it remains a highly unlikely proposition, mainly because there are other teams to overcome in the standings.
However, here is a fact: the Yankees still don’t know what it’s like to lose since they called up prospect Jasson Dominguez.
They swept the Houston Astros over the weekend and have won the first two against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
They will play the finale on Thursday, with Carlos Rodon facing Eduardo Rodriguez.
It’s another chance for the “Martian” to keep making history.
Speaking of that, he knows a thing or two about making history in MLB.
“Jasson Domínguez of the @Yankees has played 5 career games. In all 5 of them he has: – collected a hit – scored a run – had his team win. No other MLB player in the modern era has done that in each of his first 5 career games,” OptaSTATS tweeted.

Dominguez is more than a good luck charm: he looks like a legit contributor for years to come.
He is slashing .333/.333/.810 with a 1.143 OPS and three home runs.
He hit his third blast on Wednesday, a laser that went out in a hurry and left his bat at just over 110 mph.
He has power, he can steal 30 bases per year, and he is learning that it’s not impossible to hit MLB pitching.
Oh, and he is 20.
The sky is the limit for him.
