James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers has been pushing himself to the limit, and he knows he might not get rest anytime soon.
On Thursday night, he spoke with ESPN and the press following his team’s close win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the Western Conference opening round.
He was very honest about how he’s feeling and how hard he has been playing.
“I’m tired,” Harden said after playing 47 minutes. He yawned twice during his news conference but said he’d do it again Saturday in Game 7 if necessary. “Got to. Have to. Whatever the team needs. If it’s 47, 48, overtime, whatever. I’m going to do it.”
Harden was all over LA’s win over Denver, putting up 28 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.
He played for just about 47 minutes and has been a huge part of every single game in this series.
That is what will be expected of him in Game 7, when everything is on the line.
As well, Harden will likely see a lot of minutes moving forward if the Clippers are able to push into the second round against the waiting Oklahoma City Thunder.
He has to carry a lot of responsibility for his team because he is such an experienced and important part of the roster.
There have been many complaints about Harden throughout his career, especially about how he plays in the postseason.
People say that he runs out of energy and doesn’t perform like he should.
He is currently being honest about how fatigued he is, but he said he can handle it and will keep playing hard.
This is not the time of year for players to lose their drive and stamina, and Clippers fans are hoping Harden doesn’t.
