The Cleveland Browns already have a starting quarterback — or so they hope.
But if the last season taught them something, it is that you can never have too much depth or talent at the position.
Considering that, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that the team is keeping tabs on Jameis Winston as a potential backup for Deshaun Watson (via Dov Kleiman).

Needless to say, the Browns could do a lot worse than the former No. 1 pick.
While erratic, Winston is one of the most physically gifted players in the league.
He’s struggled with injuries lately, but he’s one of the best backups in the game.
The Browns will also have second-year pro Dorian Thompson-Robinson under contract, and there are rumors about a potential reunion with Joe Flacco.
They were in the mix to land Jacoby Brissett, but the former third-round pick agreed to sign a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.
Needless to say, it’s highly unlikely that the Browns will enter the season with four quarterbacks on the active roster, so they’ll most likely have to make a choice between Winston and Flacco.
One could make a case for both of them, one being younger and the other proving that he still has plenty left in the tank and is a solid locker room presence.
Then again, at the end of the day, Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski will hope that whoever they sign doesn’t have to take the field unless the Browns are blowing their opponents out in the final quarter.
