Jalen Hurts made the most of his opportunity to be the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting quarterback.
It was clear that Carson Wentz’s time as the team’s starter was ending, and with Hurts waiting in the wings, the Eagles gave him a chance that he made sure not to squander.
He has become the leader of this team and a beloved figure in Philadelphia.
Even though the Eagles struggled to make a deep playoff run last year, it is clear that Hurts still has the reins to this team and that his coaches and teammates trust him and his ability to lead their on-field efforts.
Hurts recently appeared on the Bird and Taurasi Show during the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, where he was asked various questions about his time in the NFL.
One of the questions he was asked about was trash-talking and whether it is something he does regularly.
“I feel like I don’t say too much unless you say something to me,” Hurts said.
He added, “Everybody has a different competitive nature.”
Hurts seems to be under the impression that he can let his play do the talking, only using words if necessary.
While there are many players who are known for their trash-talking, it doesn’t seem to be in Hurts’ nature to participate in these types of conversations when on the field.
Instead, Hurts chooses to keep a relatively calm demeanor when possible, hoping to keep a clear head when the moments shine the brightest.
With any luck, this philosophy can help Hurts and the Eagles take the next step in the 2024 season and beyond.
