There were quite a few fans of the New York Knicks who didn’t expect too much from Jalen Brunson when he was signed by the team in the early summer.
Maybe it’s because they are convinced that the team will perpetually screw things up but these people thought Brunson would not be the point guard needed.
The team requires a lot of help to get back in good shape and there was no way Brunson would bring that, they feared.

It’s obviously too soon to tell but maybe those doubters were wrong.
Brunson has been showing that he fits in quite well with the Knicks and can definitely lead the team in the months ahead.
The other night, the former Dallas Mavericks star was lighting up the scoreboard against the Washington Wizards.
He was not only making great perimeter shots but he was also playing with his patented brand of fearless offense that had him weaving through traffic, not turning down from a fight, and getting into the paint.
Brunson also found his teammates again and again and was landing incredible assists.
The guy has been looking good.
But is it good enough?
Brunson Tough
Those who wondered why the Knicks spent over $110 million on Brunson were given an answer during the preseason.
New York outscored their opponents by 63 points when he was on the floor during those games.
He averaged 17.7 points, 4.2 assists, and shot 49% from the field.
Beyond that, he played smartly and was able to read the floor well and communicate expertly with his peers.
The team will need more than just Brunson if they wish to get back toward the top of the Eastern Conference.
But Brunson has shown a lot of greatness during the preseason.
