Jake Browning Gets Honest About Losing Starting QB Role

The Cincinnati Bengals made a desperate move to address their quarterback situation.

While Jake Browning looked like a capable backup in the past, he’s left plenty to be desired in place of injured Joe Burrow this season.

Now that the Bengals have traded for Joe Flacco and given him the starting job, Browning opened up about being benched.

“Welcome to pro football. You’re going to be replaced. Obviously, I’m p*****. If I wasn’t p*****, then I shouldn’t be in this locker room. I’m aware of the role I played in the offensive struggles over the last few weeks. I’m also not shouldering the entire situation,” Browning said.

“Obviously I’m pissed. If I wasn’t pissed, then I shouldn’t be in this locker room.”

The Bengals’ failure to protect Burrow has cost them again.

Hoping that 40-year-old Flacco will do much better behind their offensive line is nothing more than wishful thinking.

Of course, he is a proven veteran with much more experience than Browning, but he also struggled with the Cleveland Browns this season, and he’s never been good at keeping the ball out of harm’s way.

Browning and Flacco arguably have been the two worst quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

But with head coach Zac Taylor on the hot seat, the Bengals had to pull off a move and hope for the best.

All things considered, it seems almost impossible to believe that Cincinnati has a realistic chance to make the playoffs, even with the AFC North up for grabs.

The Bengals need some serious roster restructuring, and until they finally give their best player some pass protection, they can’t be considered a contender.

As for Browning, the door will always be open for him to take over again, as Flacco might not do much better or be able to stay healthy playing behind that offensive line.
