While most NFL teams that have a productive ground game are centered around one star running back, the Detroit Lions have gotten things done with the tag team duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
With Gibbs running for 1,047 yards and 11 touchdowns and Montgomery adding 775 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns through 14 games, the Lions are sixth in rushing yards and third in rushing touchdowns.
Gibbs is in just his second season after he was the No. 12 pick in the 2023 draft, and he told Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” that while he didn’t want to get drafted by a team in a cold-weather city, he also said he would’ve been “sick” if the Dallas Cowboys drafted him.
Jahmyr Gibbs said he would’ve been “SICK” if the #Cowboys drafted him:
"Imagine if I was a Cowboy right now? I'd be so sick."

The Cowboys had the No. 26 pick in that year’s draft, so they would’ve had to have been extremely lucky in order to draft Gibbs.
Gibbs has been a huge part of Detroit’s miraculous turnaround over the last two years, and he has been a huge reason the team could be in position to reach the Super Bowl for the first time.
At the time he was drafted, the franchise had been mostly a laughingstock for some 30 years, but the winds of change were already starting to breeze through Ford Field after it won eight of its last 10 games during the 2022 season.
Last year, Gibbs was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie while the Lions went 12-5 and came within minutes of punching their ticket to the Super Bowl.
While they’re the consensus best team in the NFC, they’re dealing with key injuries, including one to Montgomery that could keep him out the rest of the season, and thus Gibbs will need to step up his game the rest of the way to give Detroit a parade.
