The Jacksonville Jaguars gave up a lot to draft Travis Hunter.
So far, it hasn’t paid off.
He hasn’t made a significant impact on either side of the ball, and it took until Week 7 for him to score his first NFL touchdown.
Of course, that’s not entirely his fault, which is why former Jaguars receiver Jimmy Smith took to social media to express his thoughts on Hunter’s situation.
“Should be our number one WR,” Smith wrote on X.

Given how poorly current WR1 Brian Thomas Jr. has played this season, it’s hard to disagree.
Thomas looked like a superstar as a rookie, but he hasn’t produced at that level this year.
He’s up to six drops, and while quarterback Trevor Lawrence hasn’t made it easy for him, he has to finish those targets.
As for Hunter, it looks like the Jaguars are taking it too slow with him on both sides of the ball.
As a result, he’s not really doing much on either.
There were some doubts about how Hunter would adapt to the NFL, as it’s not the same to deal with professionals as it is to dominate college players.
He was adamant about remaining a two-way player, and he has the ball skills to be a star at wide receiver and at defensive back.
For now, however, it looks like he would be better off focusing on being great at one thing as opposed to being very good at two.
