The madness of MLB free agency is set to get underway today at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Players such as Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, and Jacob deGrom headline what looks to be a stacked class of free agent stars.
And so, when things get going this evening, players will finally be eligible to sign with teams.
deGrom is an interesting case.
The veteran right-hander opted out of his contract with the New York Mets and will enter the free agent pool.
While the Mets are doing all they can to keep their ace, there is another team that deGrom has some interest in, that being the Texas Rangers.

deGrom A Fit For Rangers?
The Rangers figure to be a team that will try and add some pieces this offseason.
Last year, they added Corey Seager, John Gray, Marcus Semien, and Brad Miller.
Just yesterday, they acquired veteran starter Jake Odorizzi from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for left-hander Kolby Allard.
So, at the very least, they appear keen on adding some starting pitching.
Odorizzi is a good start, but deGrom might help them turn things around a little bit and get back to their winning ways, which have been absent since 2016, when they last reached the postseason.
What they currently lack is an ace, which is something that will be a hot commodity this offseason.
Mets fans certainly would not be pleased to see deGrom walk and head for Texas, but if he’s showing interest in potentially signing with the Rangers, then it’s possible that he could have a new home in 2023.
