After what appeared to be a minor setback in his recovery, New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is back in business.
He threw five scoreless innings in his simulated game on Thursday and is set for yet another rehab start.
That start will come on Wednesday with the Mets Triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Mets, while the big-league club hosts the New York Yankees at a sold-out Citi Field.
deGrom has been out since the end of spring training, when a right shoulder stress reaction shut him down.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported the news that deGrom will be making his next rehab start on Wednesday.

deGrom Set For Another Rehab Start
This is good news for the Mets.
They keep inching closer and closer to getting their ace back from his injury and being able to boast a deadly one-two punch with him and Max Scherzer.
It’s not yet known when deGrom will actually make his return, but with each rehab start, it seems that he’s getting closer.
The Mets are going to need him here shortly, as the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves are nipping at their heels in the National League East division, trailing by just two games.
But once he’s back, the Mets should take flight once again and continue putting together a strong case for them to win it all this coming October.
It’s been a great year in Queens so far, but it’s about to get even better with deGrom not too far off from returning.
His 2021 season was cut short due to elbow troubles, and he has yet to pitch this year, but soon, he’ll be back and the Mets rotation will be stacked.
