For MLB teams, it’s all about the future.
And, for the Baltimore Orioles and the Cincinnati Reds, the future is bright.
After years of being an afterthought, both organizations have managed to put together an impressive young core led by a star prospect in both cases.
The Reds have Elly De La Cruz, MLB’s second-best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
He has already made his MLB debut but he is still considered a prospect because he hasn’t played enough to “graduate”.
De La Cruz, the reigning NL Player of the Week, is already having a huge impact on his team’s chances.
The Orioles, however, have the best prospect in baseball: infielder Jackson Holliday.
The future is bright. ?

The son of former MLB star Matt Holliday, Jackson is a sweet-swinging 19-year-old kid with incredible performances already in High-A.
His current performance level is nothing compared to his future projections, though.
He has the potential to be an absolute star in one or two years from now.
Holliday is slashing an incredible .303/.445/.491 in High-A, with five home runs and 17 stolen bases.
His 20 percent strikeout rate is a tad high and will definitely be tested in Double-A and Triple-A once he is promoted to those levels, but he has also shown the ability to make adjustments.
The Orioles have Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg, Colton Cowser, Grayson Rodriguez, DL Hall, Heston Kjerstad, and Adley Rutschman either in the majors or on the verge of being MLB contributors.
Their pool of available talent is seemingly endless, and their future is very bright.
Wait until they bring up Holliday in a year or two.
They could be unstoppable.
