Year after year, NBA fans talk about how poor the Slam Dunk contest has gotten.
Some of it has had to do with the format, but most of it has been due to the fact that star players refuse to partake in the event.
Either out of fear of losing or injury, it’s been a while since we saw an elite player and dunker take the floor for the contest.
Jaylen Brown tried to put an end to that streak and the judges showed him plenty of love, even though the crowd didn’t seem to like his dunks — unsurprisingly.
That’s why a fan had the idea of offering Ja Morant $1 million to suit up and save the contest, and the tweet reached the Memphis Grizzlies star himself.

Morant made it seem like he would consider partaking in the event for that kind of money.
Perhaps the only way to salvage this event is by offering them a lot of cash, just like what happened with the In-Season Tournament.
NBA fans used to wait for this event all year, and most were even more excited about it than the actual All-Star Game.
The greatest players on Earth went at each other to put everybody on their feet with their electric dunks.
Now, it just kind of feels watered down, and the league needs to come up with an idea to bring this back to life.
