The Memphis Grizzlies are considered one of the young and up-and-coming teams in the NBA, though they are going to start the 2023-24 season handicapped as Ja Morant will be unavailable.
The league suspended Morant for 25 games due to repeated incidents of him holding a firearm.
The first incident happened this past March when an Instagram live video displayed Morant holding a firearm in a Denver nightclub.
After going to rehab, Morant was then caught on video holding a firearm in a car which prompted the NBA to hand out his punishment.
It’s a shame for the Grizzlies and Morant as they are right on the cusp of competing for a championship, but his poor decisions and behavior could jeopardize another season.
Although Morant’s suspension looms in the background of the franchise, the star still received recognition from his college of Murray State via their Twitter account.

Murray State declared Aug. 23 Ja Morant Day when he and representatives from the Grizzlies visited the campus back in 2019.
The video clip showcases some of Morant’s most electrifying collegiate highlights, a reminder of the player he was before Memphis decided to select him No. 2 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
With blazing speed and athleticism coupled with incredible body control, Morant is a one-man offensive system capable of breaking down any defense in the league.
His talent and ability are off the charts, but his actions have forced him and the organization into a tough spot.
Hopefully, the two-time All-Star will take the time off from his suspension seriously and come back a better player and person.
