There’s no denying that the Golden State Warriors have changed the game of basketball.
Steve Kerr‘s motion offense and that run-and-gun style imposed by the Splash Brothers have forced defenses to make adjustments, and young players all over the world want to pull up from 30+ feet on every possession.
That’s mostly thanks to Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter to ever live— and one of the most influential players in the history of this beautiful game.
However, as great as Curry is, some fans still gave him a hard time for not having a Finals MVP award before this season.
Then, he went human torch mode to lead the Warriors past the Boston Celtics and finally claimed the only trophy that was missing from his résumé.
Nonetheless, it seems like one of his former rivals was still unfazed by his NBA Finals performance, as J.R. Smith recently stated that it should’ve been Andrew Wiggins the one to take the award home:
“Well 1! Iggy had a better finals offense and defense in the first one and KD was KD for 2 so that only leaves the one that he was warned and no disrespect to him but to me Wiggins would have won the last one. But that’s just me,” Smith tweeted.

Wiggins was a major factor in the Dubs’ success in the Finals, playing outstanding defense and dominating the glass.
Nonetheless, Curry was the offensive catalyst and their emotional leader on and off the court, so maybe, we’ll just agree to disagree on this one, J.R.
