With the NFL season just around the corner, it’s officially overreaction time.
We see multiple clips from training camp, and fans and even pundits can’t wait to fire their bold takes left and right after just a quick glimpse of a clip.
That’s why former Houston Texans star J.J. Watt took to Twitter to put this kind of practice on blast, urging the fans and people overall to stop making a big deal out of those clips they see.
Watt claimed that he loves to see footage from NFL training camps, but people have no business making ‘outlandish statements’ from one-on-one reps.
Love seeing footage from NFL training camps, but can’t stand accounts posting video of one rep from 1v1’s and making outlandish statements.
A) 1v1’s are for working on your craft/new moves.
B) Literally every player wins/loses reps every single day. One rep tells nothing.

He explained that those drills are to work on new moves and the players’ craft, that literally every player wins and loses reps every single day, and that one rep says nothing about his performance.
Not so long ago, people were making a huge deal out of Ja’Marr Chase’s constant drops in training camp and the preseason, and he took the league by storm from the very first snap he played in the regular season.
Practice is just that, practice.
Some players don’t go all out, and it’s also borderline impossible to be there every time they do something great just to post on social media.
Drills get you ready for when things actually count and matter.
And while the preseason and training camp could hint at guys set to have breakout years, there’s simply no way of knowing until they take the field for the regular season.
