The Minnesota Vikings’ season got off to a surprising start.
Unfortunately, the outcome wasn’t what they hoped for.
Just like it happened two years ago, they couldn’t keep up in the playoffs and went one-and-done.
Following the loss, rookie QB J.J. McCarthy took to X to share a simple two-word message: “Amor Fati.”
That phrase translates to “Love of fate,” and it’s been a popular concept in philosophy throughout the course of history.

McCarthy suffered a knee injury in the preseason that kept him on the shelf for the entirety of his rookie campaign.
Sam Darnold’s stellar play in the regular season even made people question whether they should look to trade McCarthy or keep him as a backup while Darnold led the team as the starter.
Nevertheless, Darnold struggled mightily in the two most crucial games of the season, hurting the narrative around him and most likely sealing his fate with the organization.
The Vikings will now most likely dial back and return to their initial plan of starting McCarthy next season.
He drew rave reviews in the pre-draft process, and even though the sample size from his days at Michigan wasn’t as large as scouts would’ve wanted, there were plenty of things to like about his tape.
Of course, there’s nothing to replicate the speed and feel of the game, and he missed some crucial reps during his first season.
But barring injury, and with enough patience and time to develop, he might be the team’s answer at the position for years to come.
