Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady just won his seventh Super Bowl title.
He is deserving of many accolades including being called the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).

GOAT is a very generic title.
What exactly is Tom Brady the GOAT of?
His 21 year career proves he is the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL.
However, he is not the greatest athlete of all time.
Opinions vary widely on this issue.
Here are three reasons why I believe he is not the greatest athlete of all time.
1. Football Is A Team Sport
Tom Brady has quarterbacked outstanding NFL teams during his storied career.
The key word in that phrase is teams.
Brady is just one piece of that team.
He does not play defense, kick extra points, or run routes.
His job is to lead, engineer, and execute offensive plays.
He is excellent at doing so.
Brady is always the first to commend his teams’ defenses for their performances.
He also gives plenty of credit to his offensive counterparts for their roles in achieving those Super Bowl victories.
2. His Athletic Skills Are Good Not Great
Brady was a sixth-round draft pick in 2000 out of the University of Michigan.
His performance at the 2000 NFL Combine gave us a glimpse at his raw athletic skills.
5.30 40 yard dash
24.5 inch vertical jump
Pick #199 in the 6th Round
The one thing they can’t measure at the NFL Combine is heart – the will to win.

To his credit, he has taken care of his body over the years with strict diet and exercise regimens which have maximized his athletic abilities.
He has shown us what persistent and relentless practice, preparation, and discipline can do.
His longevity in a high contact sport is astounding.

3. Other Contenders Are More Likely To Be Called The Greatest Athlete Of All Time
There are many other contenders for the title of Greatest Athlete of All Time.
Those who participate in individual sports and maintain a long and high degree of excellence and dominance come to mind including Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.
Tiger Woods has 110 professional wins in tournaments and has won 15 Major Championship.
Serena Williams’ career record in professional tennis’ singles tournaments is 848 wins and only 147 losses.
She has also won 23 Grand Slam tournaments.
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are all extremely accomplished tennis champions who competed in the same era with one another so their individual numbers are staggering.
Federer has 20 Grand Slams.
Nadal also has 20, and Djokovic, the youngest of the three, is right behind them with 17.
These champions have trainers and trusted people who help prepare them, but it is ultimately up to each of them to win.
Those tournaments run over consecutive days and weeks (Grand Slam tennis).
Possible contenders in team sports would most likely come from the NBA with LeBron James and Michael Jordan being the most notable possibilities.
NBA athletes have the day in and day out rigors of a competitive season (compared to an NFL player who has one game per week), and they are responsible for playing both on offense and defense.
LeBron has 4 NBA Championships, and he is still playing.
MJ has 6.
Any one of these athletes could and should be in the conversation as the greatest athlete of all time.
