Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors made history last night when he secured his 2,974th three-pointer – the most in NBA history.
Curry’s achievement was a rare moment when fans for every team came together to celebrate something monumental.
With Curry’s historic night, many people are now asking: is Curry the greatest shooter of all time?
The answer is yes, but it’s not just because he’s able to land some of the flashiest, slickest shots you’ve ever seen.
You Can’t Argue With Numbers
2,974 three-pointers – that’s a massive accomplishment no matter how you cut it.
Before him, the title of most three-pointers was held by Ray Allen, who secured 2,973 in 1,300 games.
Curry did it in just 789 games.

Allen had a three-point percentage of 40 percent while Curry has a percentage of 43.1 percent.
Numbers don’t lie: Allen has been unanimously called one of the greatest NBA shooters ever and he is being beaten by Curry where it counts.
It’s also important to remember that Curry is young – he’s only 33 years old.
That means that he still has quite a few years left in him and that’s time to only strengthen his hold on his shooting dominance.
Today he has made 2,977 three-point shots but he has a few years to only make that number grow.
He Changed The Game
Calling Curry the best shooter of all time doesn’t touch upon just how incredible a player he is in every sense.
He’s more than just a shooter, he’s also a great team facilitator and leader.
His style of play relies on fantastic, out-of-this-world shots but it also relies on plenty of dimes and masterful forethought too.
It has been said that Curry has changed the way people play in the NBA and that’s absolutely right.
But when people say that, they don’t mean that younger players are just focusing on threes more, they mean that they are attempting to replicate Curry’s style in every sense of the word.
When Curry entered the league, it was filled with much bigger, physically dominant players.
Now the NBA is populated with many guys who are smaller but faster too.
That’s a direct response to the success that Curry has had.
It’s not every day that you can say someone literally changed the way the association works but that’s exactly what Curry has done.
The Yikes Factor
Although he is more than just a three-point shooter, you have to admit that Curry has made some unbelievable shots during his career.
When you look back at every three-pointer he has landed, you see hundreds of superb and unbelievable plays.

This isn’t just blind luck that’s making the ball go in the basket, it’s practice and ability.
All of that adds up to the best shooter of all time.
Some people say that Curry takes random, silly shots that shouldn’t land.
You can say that but the fact is they do land.
If that happened every once in a while, you could say he’s just getting lucky.
But it happens hundreds – of not thousands – of times.
That’s beyond luck.
That’s skill.
