The Miami Dolphins always knew that Odell Beckham Jr. was a low-risk/high-reward pickup.
There was some risk, nonetheless.
The fact that not many teams seemed interested in his services spoke volumes about his health status.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and then be a non-factor in their offense.
Notably, OBJ might not feel like he’s earned his money.
That’s why, in a shocking turn of events, the former Super Bowl champion has officially relinquished his remaining salary from the Dolphins, meaning they won’t have to pay for his salary even if another team claims him off waivers (via FinsXtra).

That’s something not many players would’ve done.
It might be a testament to his character and perhaps to how thankful he was for the opportunity to continue his career with the Dolphins.
Beckham’s talent and physical skills have never been doubted.
We’re talking about an athletic freak who can make every catch in the book.
Then again, time spares no one, and his health has been a significant concern for years.
He can’t seem to stay healthy anymore, and while it’s a shame to see him go out like this, no one can take that Super Bowl ring off of his finger.
