Aaron Rodgers finally took the field for the New York Jets for the first time in a game that actually counts on Monday night at MetLife Stadium versus the Buffalo Bills.
It was an emotional scene in the New York City area, given it was also the 22-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that devastated the entire nation and changed everything for it.
But the excitement over the Jets being a Super Bowl contender quickly turned into palpable worry, as the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback went down with an apparent injury on New York’s very first offensive possession.

The injury was apparently bad enough that Rodgers had to be taken off the field in a cart following his initial evaluation in the blue medical tent, per Mike Garofolo.

The early word, via Ian Rapoport, is that Rodgers has an ankle injury and that his return to this contest is questionable.

Needless to say, if he has to miss any real time, it could be disastrous for a Jets team that has legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.
They haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, yet they now have a talented roster on both sides of the football that includes wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, and cornerback Sauce Gardner, 2022’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Rodgers is 39 years of age, and the Jets’ offensive line has been a big concern heading into the new season.
