The New York Yankees are making a splash this offseason even though they missed out on bringing back Juan Soto.
Although Soto ended up signing with the New York Mets, the Yankees have added three key players to their roster for the 2025 season.
The acquisitions include signing free agent starting pitcher Max Fried from the Atlanta Braves, trading for relief pitcher Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers, and trading for outfielder Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal said he doesn’t believe the Yankees are done yet.
“The Yankees are increasingly likely to look at a more inexpensive option (at first base),” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory.

The Yankees need a first baseman, but Rosenthal said they will pursue one of the cheaper options rather than an elite player at the position like Pete Alonso of the Mets.
Rosenthal mentions some trade options at the position including Carlos Santana of the Minnesota Twins and Josh Naylor of the Cleveland Guardians.
The Yankees also could move Bellinger to first base if they wanted to take a different approach.
With plenty of options and players still on the table, the Yankees will continue to be a team to watch as the offseason progresses.
They will look to win back-to-back AL East titles and win their first World Series title since 2009.
