The 3-12 Jacksonville Jaguars came into this season with aspirations of winning the AFC South and going on a run in the postseason.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan, and they are now staring at the possibility of another top-5 pick and another coaching change.
One insider thinks things might be even bleaker than that, thanks to a strange vibe coming from the team’s ownership.
Lead CBS NFL insider Jonathan Jones said on Sunday morning, “People around the league have expected the head coach and GM positions in Jacksonville to open at the end of the season, but there’s been an unusual silence from the top ranks there. People are wondering if Doug Pederson and Trent Baalke, or one of them, will be back next year because of that silence.”

Jones added that owner Shad Khan “hasn’t given anyone the time of day” when they inquire about potential openings.
He also said that the people he has talked to think highly of the Jags’ jobs, thanks to the team’s new facilities, the presence of a young franchise quarterback, an owner who doesn’t meddle, and playing in a winnable division.
Analyst Amy Trask expounded on Jones’ points and said that all his points are valid and consistent with her experience working with Khan.
This team has many questions to answer in the offseason because it has too much talent to lose as often as the Jaguars.
Many are surprised that Pederson hasn’t been fired yet, but it could just be a matter of time at this point because that’s how Khan operates.
