The New York Jets didn’t live up to their Super Bowl aspirations in 2024.
Instead, they floundered to a 5-12 season despite quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning to health and starting all 17 games.
The team has reportedly informed Rodgers that he won’t be back with the Jets, and another report indicates that one notable veteran wide receiver could be joining him on his way out.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared on X that Davante Adams’ $38.3 million cap hit in 2025 is “untenable” for the Jets and that he’d have to agree to a restructured deal in order to stay with the team, which means he’ll likely be moving on as well as Rodgers.

Rapoport also shared that Adams would prefer to play for a team on the West Coast.
Adams posted solid numbers after the Jets acquired him during the season from the Las Vegas Raiders, catching 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games with the Jets, which, combined with his three games with the Raiders, put him over 1,000 receiving yards for the fifth consecutive season.
If Adams wants to go out west, the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers come to mind, as both appear to be candidates to move on from their own veteran receivers.
Cooper Kupp recently revealed that the Rams are interested in trading him, while Deebo Samuel has reportedly been granted permission to seek a trade from the Niners.
The funnier timeline would involve Rodgers and Adams teaming up again with the Raiders, one of the few teams that desperately needs a new quarterback.
