The start of training camps in the NBA is only a few weeks away, with all 30 teams in the league getting their new-look rosters together in order to prepare for the preseason and the upcoming 2023-24 NBA regular season.
At this point in the NBA offseason, most transactions have gone through with player movement coming to a crawl, as most teams have filled out the rosters.
Most of the moves made now are to fill out training camp rosters, which usually involve teams adding a few more bodies to their roster for camp and preseason games.
However, this year is a little different, with two blockbuster trades expected before the start of the regular season, with superstars Damian Lillard and James Harden awaiting their fate after making trade requests earlier this summer.
It appears Lillard could be the first of these two players moved, with Shams Charania of The Athletic reporting that the Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat are expected to re-engage in trade talks in the coming weeks, with the superstar guard only willing to report to training camp for one of those two teams, via Hoop Central.
“At this point… the only two training camps that Damian Lillard would report to, in theory: Portland and Miami.”

This is an interesting development, as it has seemed more and more likely that if Lillard gets traded before the start of the season, it won’t be to the Heat.
Along with the NBA coming down on Lillard and his agent about trying to push a trade to the Heat, the Blazers haven’t liked the trade packages coming their way, meaning they have been hoping for a better deal elsewhere.
Even though the Blazers have been hoping for something better, it might not be out there, and that may lead to the team ultimately deciding to take what Miami offers.
