The past two seasons haven’t been kind to the Denver Broncos.
The team was optimistic about their long-term success with Russell Wilson at the helm, but he didn’t pan out.
Wilson will now sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, bringing the Broncos back to the drawing board at this marquee position.
They desperately need a quarterback, but based on their standing with Wilson, it might be difficult for them to do so in 2024.
Broncos Insider Benjamin Allbright recently highlighted the fact that, while Kirk Cousins would be an excellent option for them, it might not be feasible.
“I think the Broncos would like to make a run at Kirk Cousins. I just don’t think that the roster is enticing over Atlanta (where Kirk’s wife’s family is, also) and I don’t think they realistically have the cap, even with the moves,” Allbright said.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.

The Broncos still have a significant sum of money tied up in Wilson, as they are forced to pay him, even though he isn’t playing for them in 2024 and beyond.
This puts them in a difficult spot to sign free agents at quarterback and other positions.
It will be interesting to see where the Broncos turn at QB and if they can find a way to win in 2024.
Having a solid quarterback is paramount in the NFL, especially in today’s pass-heavy approach to the game.
If they can’t get a deal done with a player of Cousins’ caliber, they might have to settle for a younger player on a team-friendly contract.
Others have suggested the Broncos draft a first-round quarterback, which they could still do, but contracts for first-round players are not cheap.
If they want to add a rookie quarterback, they’ll likely have to move on from players with high-dollar contracts to make this happen.
