After the news surfaced that the Denver Broncos would be parting ways with one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson, a few suitors were expected to show interest in the veteran once he became a free agent.
One team that seemed to be more interested than the other suitors was the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the storied franchise having the desire to win now rather than continue a shaky situation with Kenny Pickett at quarterback.
Although the rumors were swirling about the Steelers’ interest in Wilson, it was uncertain whether there was any merit to the speculation, with talk of the team wanting to stick by Pickett moving forward as they feel he’s the future face of the franchise.
However, that speculation came to rest over the weekend when the Steelers announced their intentions to sign the veteran quarterback to a one-year deal.
With Wilson now set to sign a one-year deal with the Steelers, Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report explained how the deal between the two sides came together, via “Speak” on FS1.
“Mike Tomlin and Russell Wilson met for hours, and they hit it off in a way that was described to me as perfection,” Schultz said.

The real question now is whether the Steelers made the right move in bringing in a veteran quarterback who may be washed up after two disappointing seasons with the Broncos.
Although Wilson showed signs of his former form in Denver at times, he was anything but consistent, but he’s also a considerable upgrade over Pickett, which is all the team wants at this point.
