The Philadelphia 76ers’ once-promising season has gotten off to a dreadful start.
The team is 1-4, Paul George has yet to make his debut with the team, and there’s still no word about when Joel Embiid will suit up after returning to practice this week.
On top of that, Embiid made the rounds for all the wrong reasons.
Following the loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the star big man reportedly shoved a reporter.
According to a report by Shams Charania of ESPN (via Legion Hoops), Embiid shoved him because he mentioned his late brother in a recent article.

Apparently, the reporter pointed out that Embiid constantly talks about how his brother’s passing was an inflection point in his basketball career and how he now wants to be great and leave a legacy for his late brother.
Then, he called him out for not showing up to play, and it clearly rubbed Embiid the wrong way.
The league will reportedly investigate this matter.
Embiid is currently dealing with a knee injury, and he also went viral for claiming that he might not play in back-to-backs ever again in his career.
This epitomizes what infuriates fans about modern basketball.
It’s not that anybody should play through injury, but with all the money and the endorsements also comes responsibility, and it shouldn’t be too much to ask of players to actually suit up and do the job they’re getting paid to do.
However, from that to getting personal or addressing delicate subjects, that’s a different line to cross.
