The Los Angeles Rams looked dead in the water to begin the 2024 NFL season.
They were 1-4 and well on their way to missing the playoffs.
However, following their bye week, head coach Sean McVay and his coaching staff were able to turn a corner and go on a second-half run to qualify for the 2025 NFL Playoffs.
Los Angeles blew out the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round and narrowly lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round.
The Rams, on paper, appear to be on the cusp of Super Bowl contention, although there are open question marks about some of their key players.
The most pressing question is the future of Matthew Stafford, who said he wanted to take some time to think about potentially playing next year.
In this case, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, his contract for the 2025 season will need to be restructured to lure him back on the field.
“If Stafford is going to come back, they’re gonna have to reach a reworked contract,” Rapoport reported.

Stafford and his reps discussed the matter with Los Angeles’ brass last offseason, and the two sides agreed to a deal right at the start of training camp.
This time around, it sounds like both sides would like to resolve the situation sooner, so this situation will be worth monitoring.
Stafford remains one of the best pure passers in the league, so it will be interesting to see if he gets the compensation he desires.
