The Golden State Warriors made their first big move of the season.
They got on the phone and landed Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets.
They sent De’Anthony Melton, who’s out for the season with an injury, and some second-round picks in return for the veteran point guard and draft compensation.
However, as much as Schroder could give the team a strong scoring punch off the bench, he might not even finish the season in the Bay area.
According to a report by Shams Charania of ESPN (via ClutchPoints), the Warriors will continue aggressively pursuing another star to pair with Stephen Curry.
“They [Warriors] remain active in the hunt for a star player, and they can aggregate [Dennis] Schroder's contract.”

While that makes sense, as Schroder isn’t a star, the insider adds that the Warriors could even include Schroder’s deal into the mix to get a trade done.
Schroder is one of the best backup point guards in the game, so it would be wise for the Warriors to keep him around if possible.
Stephen Curry has struggled with a knee injury this season.
While he’s still scoring points, he hasn’t looked nearly as explosive as he used to.
They need an insurance policy if he falls and injures himself or if they want to give him a break.
If that’s the case, Schroder could hold down the fort for a couple of games.
Still, it seems like Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr are still aiming for a bigger prize, and not many players will be off-limits to get who they want.
