San Antonio Spurs fans were shocked and frightened on Monday morning when it was announced that Gregg Popovich would be out indefinitely because of a “health issue” that he suffered before Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The team didn’t give more information and that raised a lot of worries for fans of the 75-year-old NBA legend.
But according to Tom Orsborn, via Legion Hoops, Popovich is “OK” and just needs some rest.
That should ease the fears of Spurs fans, who are willing to let Popovich relax and rest as long as he needs.

Some people were fearing the worst on Monday morning after the news of Popovich’s health scare.
Because of his age, there were concerns that this could be something very serious and career-ending.
But it sounds like Popovich is just worn out and should hopefully be back soon after getting some much-needed time away from the team.
In the meantime, assistant Mitch Johnson will be the interim head coach.
He took on that responsibility on Saturday when the Spurs faced the Timberwolves.
Johnson did a great job and the Spurs walked away with an impressive 113-103 win.
Now Johnson needs to prepare to stay in that role for perhaps a considerable amount of time because there is no timetable for Popovich’s return.
This is Popovich’s 29th season with the Spurs and he is the longest-tenured head coach in the league.
He also has the most wins in NBA history with 1,391 and has earned five NBA titles.
Popovich is treasured by the league so this update to his health is a very welcome one and everyone hopes he feels better soon.
