Nico Harrison is still considered public enemy No. 1 for many Dallas Mavericks fans because of the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade in February.
Earlier this week, he held a closed-door conference with Dallas media and reportedly said that he has “no regrets” about the trade that rocked the league.
But does he have regrets about talking to the press?
Sitting down on ESPN, Shams Charania shed some light on the Doncic trade and Harrison’s recent press conference.
“Nico Harrison did not want to do this closed-door roundtable. This was not his idea. This was something that was enforced by their owner, Patrick Dumont,” Charania said.

Why did owner Patrick Dumont think that Harrison had to talk to the press?
Was it because he wanted the general manager to answer questions or soothe the fans?
The team is still in damage control mode in many ways because fans remain furious about losing Doncic.
It doesn’t really matter what Harrison says or how many regrets he has, they are not going to be pleased with him.
Harrison knew the sort of mess he was creating when he committed the Doncic deal, so he shouldn’t be surprised that he hasn’t been welcomed back by Dallas faithful yet.
And he ultimately believes in what his team is doing with the addition of Anthony Davis.
He probably just wants to put his head down, keep working, and help the Mavericks win as much as possible.
Instead, he will have to answer for a trade he doesn’t regret for the rest of his career.
It is very likely that Harrison will still be talking about trading Doncic years from now.
